The Okinawan Shorin Ryu Matsumura Seito Karate and Kobudo Federation is an internationally recognized organization. The roots of this organization officially stem from the teachings of Satonushi Sakugawa back in the mid-1700’s. The art itself can be traced back even further as Sakugawa’s training was derived from Chu’an Fa, a Chinese martial art with Shaolin origins. His student, Matsumura Sōkon (Bushi), would go on to become one of the history’s most renowned martial artists and develop the system which eventually became the OSMKKF.
Grandmaster Fusei Kise was recognized as the sole heir to the Matsumura Orthodox Karate style by the Japanese government in 2001. This means that the only charter schools recognized by the Grandmaster can teach the Matsumura style of Shorin Ryu.
